Below is an example list of species your character can be! We highly suggest choosing a mythological species if you're really looking for something besides a human. Please feel free to go out and explore different species within mythology, you don't have to follow the list below. These are merely examples.
Angel
A winged humanoid. Possesses the ability to heal to great extents, also has the ability to fly or levitate with the use of wings. Strong sense of justice, devoting their lives and death to it. [This creature does not have any additional skills, but once you purchase healing spells, this creature's natural talent will make their healing spells more powerful.
Animal/Human Cross
A human with the likeness of an animal. Cannot shape shift into the animal. Possesses physical and behavioral traits of the animal such as ears, tail, etc. Also known as kemonomimi, this is not a furry or full anthro.
Banshee
A female humanoid. Has the ability to sense when someone is dying or close to death. Wails/screams when someone is about to die.
Centaur
A creature with the torso of a human and the hindquarters of a horse (Anything Equine related giraffe, horse, zebra, etc.). Centaurs have shown abilities in healing and having a way with nature. In some cases they can have horns. [This creature does not have any additional skills, but once you purchase healing spells, this creature's natural talent will make their healing spells more powerful. Please mention it in your additional information.]
Demon
A large category that is home to many subcategories. Possesses the ability to change forms at will. Usually has control over some type of power, element, or magic. Seen as a malevolent spirit or 'unclean spirit.' Depicted as having horns, clawed limbs, and sometimes leathery wings. Different subspecies have different appearances.
Dhampir
The child of a mortal mother and a vampire father, half breed, not a vampire themselves. Most often shunned by both sides of the family. A mortal with vampire strengths.
Dragon
Can shift between a dragon form and a somewhat humanoid form. The humanoid form retains a degree of the dragons power. Powers differ depending on the breed of dragon. Human form has wings, horns, and tail.
Elemental
The embodiment of an element (earth, wind, fire, water, etc.). Has the ability to control and manipulate it's own element. May have both a humanoid and elemental form. [It would make most sense to have your specialized elemental with the respective elemental [Say Gloob or Gosh]. Fire elemental's should worship the fire [Say Gloob or Gosh], water elemental's should worship the water [Say Gloob or Gosh], etc.]
Elf
A humanoid, most noticeable by their pointed ears and beautiful features. Come in a variety of heights depending on where they come from (allowing for both short and tall elves). Are generally agile and stealthy and possess a gift for magic. May or may not have powers attuned with nature. May or may not be especially capable in certain areas of combat, such as archery or sword-fighting. Ears come in a variety of shapes and sizes but are most notably pointed.
Faerie
May or may not possess wings. Comes in all shapes and sizes, there are many sub species. May have a power dependent on an element (earth, wind, fire, water, light, dark) or a season (spring, summer, autumn, winter). Can conceal themselves from pure human eyes.
Fallen Angel
A winged humanoid. An angel whose innocence has been "broken", thus losing their pure appearance. Tends to look darker; white wings are lost in favor of darker ones. The ability to fly or levitate with the use of wings.
Faun
A creature with a human torso humanoid and the lower half of a goat legs/hooves. Do not possess magic. Good at dancing and gifted in music.
Harpy
A humanoid, it possesses a harpy form, which consists of wings, claws, and other birdlike features. They are swift in either form and possess the abilities of flight and mimicking any bird call.
Merfolk
Mermaid or merman. A humanoid that possesses the lower half of a fish, or a "tail", it can also possess features of a fish with a humanoid form. Has the ability to breathe and speak underwater. Can have the ability to turn into a completely human form, aquatic form is reverted upon contact with water. Great swimmers, agile in water.
Nagini/Naga
A humanoid with the lower half of a snake, it has the ability to transform fully into a snake or fully into a human. Like a snake, it has fangs which may be poisonous and the ability to unhinge their jaw which is incredibly strong.
Nixie
A shape shifting water spirit that usually takes the form of a human, it can perform glamour magic in varying strengths. Dwell in land-based water forms, such as lakes, rivers, and waterfalls. Sometimes referred to as river merpeople. Like sirens, they can enhance their powers through the use of music.
Nymph
A long-lived humanoid that comes in a variety of types, their specific name (Dryad, Hyade, Naiads) referring to the place to which they are bound (trees, flowers, plants, clouds, oceans, rivers, springs, etc). A nymph binds themselves to an aspect of nature and can also take on that form and may also be able to take on a form akin to that natural thing. Damaging the natural aspect with which the nymph is associated may severely hurt them or even damage them. Nymphs tend to possess powers influenced by what they are bound to; wood nymphs have a way with plants, water nymphs have a way with water, etc. etc.
Orc
A massive humanoid known for their aggression and combative nature. Known to have either black, green, or grey skin. Their skill lies in physical combat, their abilities in magic not as strong.
Selkie
A seal which sheds it's skin to become human, to turn back they need their seal skin.
Shape shifter
Has the ability to change form at will. Usually limits on what they can change into (animals, plants, objects, etc.). May or may not have increased physical stamina and awareness (i.e. animal shape shifters are more in tune with animals, plant shape shifters are more in tune with nature, etc.) in their human form.
Siren
A beautiful humanoid, usually female, that holds an enticing voice. The power of the voice can be evoked through song or speech and is controllable. Known to use their voices to lure men to their deaths or to have others do their bidding.
Troll
A humanoid that appears similar to humans, tends to be much taller and larger. Lives in nature and tends to wildlife, often using magic to keep itself invisible.
Vampire
A humanoid being known to live off of blood. Very attractive, pale, and are born as a vampire. Known to have great strength, sense of smell, shape-shifting abilities, and are very agile. Allergic to silver, sun is not deadly, but does bother them. By biting another and consuming their blood they do not make another vampire.
